A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Bangladesh and Iraq, which aims to create manpower export opportunity to Iraq.
Expatriates’ Welfare Minister Khandker Mosharraf Hossain and his Iraqi counterpart Nassar al-Rubayie signed the MoU at the ministry Saturday morning.
In 2011, a high-level Bangladeshi delegation led by expatriates’ welfare minister, Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, visited Iraq to ensure security of Bangladeshi workers and employment of jobless expatriates there, one of the members told the Dhaka Tribune.
Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training (BMET) records show a total of 2,441 workers have gone to Iraq in the first half of 2013; 359 in 2012; 234 in 2011; 2,288 in 2010 and 412 in 2009.
