Update : 06 Aug 2013, 04:52 AM

Nusrat Rabbee, the daughter of martyred physician Dr Fazle Rabbee, on Monday told the war crimes tribunal that her father was abducted by war crimes suspects Chowdhury Mueen Uddin and Ashrafuzzaman Khan on December 15, 1971.

Testifying against the duo as the 10th prosecution witness, Nusrat also submitted at the International Crimes Tribunal 2 that she was eight years old when the abduction of Dr Rabbee (occasionally spelled Rabbi) took place in front of her. Her mother also witnesses the incident.

The witness said around 3pm on December 15, 1971, some al-Badr members came to their Shiddheshwari residence on a mud-stained microbus and cordoned the house.

""Earlier, on December 13, 1971, we [Nusrat and her mother] saw some strangers having beard around the house. At that time, we could not identify them. Later when we saw news on Mueen and Ashrafuzzaman on different newspapers, we became sure that these two men had come to our residence on December 13 and 15. They were among the persons who abducted my father,"" she said.

Now 50-year-old, Nusrat said some journalists on December 18 informed them that her father had been killed at the Rayerbazar mass killing ground.

Dr Rabbee together with another martyred doctor, Alim Chowdhury, used to run a ""secret hospital"" for the wounded freedom fighters during the Liberation War. They also used to help the freedom fighters with medicine and money.

Deposition of the witness, also a professor at University of California, remained incomplete as the tribunal adjourned the procedure around noon. The tribunal set tomorrow for further procedure in the case.
