Fahima Islam Lopa, wife of one of the key suspects in much-talked-about Jubo League leader Milky murder case, on Sunday confessed to a magistrate about her and her husband's, Maruf Reza Sagar, involvement in the killing, court sources said.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shahriar Mahmud Adnan recorded Lopa's confessional statement.
Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) 1 official, Assistant Superintendent of police Md Kezmur Rashid, the investigation officer of the case, produced Lopa before the court earlier in the day.
Reazul Haque Khan Milky, 43, organising secretary of the Dhaka City (South) unit Jubo League, was shot dead in the capital's Gulshan area early Tuesday.
Confessing her role as an informant of Tarek, Lopa said she informed Tarek about Milky's whereabouts on the day of the latter's killing.
She also said according to her plan, her husband Sagar took Milky to Gulshan in his own car from the Milky's Mohammadpur residence on July 30.
Lopa, who reportedly had an affair with Jubo League's joint secretary of Dhaka City (south) unit Zahid Siddique Tarek, the prime suspect of the Milky murder case, was detained by Rab from her residence in city's Dhanmondi area on Saturday evening.
She also said Tarek had wanted to kill Milky during the four-day hartal enforced by Jamaat-e-Islami on mid-July.
Tarek was killed in "crossfire" during a gunfight between Rab and unidentified gunmen on Wednesday evening in the city's Khlikhet area. One of the attackers, Shah Alam, was also killed in the gunfight.
A Rab statement says the gunfight took place when a group of armed criminals tried to liberate Tarek when Rab was moving him to the Gulshan police station from a hospital in Uttara where he was being treated.
Lt Col Ziaul Ahsan, director of Rab intelligence unit, told the Dhaka Tribune that Lopa admitted her involvement in the killing of Milky during the primary interrogation.
