Update : 29 May 2013, 11:25 AM

A Dhaka court Wednesday took into cognisance a petition filed by a plaintiff in connection with death in Tazreen Fashions fire on November 24 last year.

Senior Judicial Magistrate Toyabul Hasan recorded the statement of the plaintiff Abdul Matin, brother of Rehana Akther who was killed in Tazreen fire and her body was missing.

The court also asked Ashulia police station to investigate the matter and submit report within July.

Matin filed the murder case against Delwar Hossain, owner of the Tazreen Fashions Ltd, and unnamed others.

The plaintiff mentioned in his statement that 112 garment workers killed in the devastating fire at Tazreen Fashions Ltd at Nischintapur of Ashulia, and the main accused was Delwar who gave order to deliberately cause fire in the garment factory.

In the fire, Matin’s sister Rehana Akhter was killed and the accused hid her body, said the statement.

In addition, another case was filed against three employees of Tazreen Fashions Ltd with Ashulia police station in connection with the fire incident on November 24, 2012.

Later, the case was transferred to Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for investigation.

The three accused are security in-charge Mohammad Anisur Rahman of the fire-devastated garment factory, its security guard Rana Hosain and storekeeper Al Amin.

Earlier, a CID team detained the three during an overnight drive at different places of Ashulia.
