A Dhaka Court today placed Aminul Islam, the owner of Phantom Apparels, on an 11-day remand in the two cases filed against him.
Senior Judicial Magistrate Washim Sheikh granted the remand rejecting the bail petition filed by Aminul Islam’s lawyer Md Sirajul Islam.
He was arrested on Saturday night and was charged with two cases – one under the Bangladesh Penal Code and another under the Bangladesh Construction Building Act.
The prosecution added 304, 307, 323, 324 and 325 sections of Penal Code in the case filed against him and the maximum punishment under the sections is lifetime imprisonment.
Rab arrested Sohel Rana, the owner of Rana Plaza on Sunday.
Earlier Detective police picked up the owners of New Wave Style and New Wave Bottoms, Bazlus Samad Adnan and Mahmudur Rahman Tapash respectively, two among four owners of the factories in collapsed Rana Plaza.
They surrendered to law enforcers at the Bangladesh Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) building on Sunday.
A few hours into the day, the eight-storey building collapsed killing over 350 individuals and injuring thousands. Two days after the incident, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina ordered the immediate arrest of the owners of the building and the factories.
