Prosecution asked to press charges against Qasem before May 9

The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) on Wednesday directed the prosecution to file formal charges before May 9 against Jamaat-e-Islami leader Mir Qasem Ali in the cases filed against him on charges of committing crimes against humanity during the 1971 War of Liberation.

ICT 1 chairman Justice ATM Fazle Kabir issued the directive.

Earlier, prosecutor Sultan Mahmud submitted the progress report of the investigation that was going on against Mir Qasem Ali and sought more time.

Qasem was produced before the court on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the 29th witness in the war crimes cases against BNP leader Salahuddin Qader Chowdhury is going on at ICT 1.
