The cabinet approved a draft for amending the “Bangladesh Labour Act, 2013” on Monday,keeping the provision that allows workers to form and be involved with the trade unions or the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) for the readymade garments (RMG) sector in Bangladesh.
The approval was given in a regular cabinet meeting held at the secretariat with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
The meeting also approved a draft proposal of “Brick Making Control Act, 2013” in principle, keeping in the provision of a maximumof 10 years imprisonment or Tk1m in fines or both, as punishment for violating the law.
