The Bangladesh Mohila Parishad (BMP) has said that a total of 259 women and children were victims of violence in the month of January.
Of the total number of victims, 108 were raped and gang raped; and of them 72 were children, said a BMP press release on Monday.
The BMP compiled the statistics based on reports published in 13 national dailies of the country.
In addition to the rape incidents, around nine instances of attempted rape were also reported.
Moreover, 41 women and children were killed across the country during the same period.
The organization has expressed deep concerns over the sharp rise in the volume of violence against children in the country amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
