Update : 04 Nov 2015, 03:27 PM

Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) has directed all the police personnel to be alert in cheek posts and also instructed them to shoot at assailants in self-defence while frisking at check-posts.

CMP Commissioner Abdul Jalil Mondal told the Dhaka Tribune just hours after the attack on Ashulia police outpost.

He said: “CMP have made the direction for self-defense of law enforcers and also directed to promote surveillance during the cheek.”

We also guided all staffs to bring the suspects in gunpoint while they initiate search and the direction have been taken under law, he also said.

Around 8am Wednesday, some unidentified miscreants, equipped with lethal weapons, stormed into a team of patrol police at Baraipara in Ashulia and hacked two constables including Mukul, leaving them critically injured.

Later, the duo was whisked off to Savar Enam Medical College Hospital where physicians declared Mukul dead. The condition of Nur-E-Alam is stated to be critical.

Earlier on October 22, some miscreants killed Ibrahim Miah, assistant sub-inspector of Darus Salam police station, in the capital's Gabtoli area in the same way.
