5 human organ traffickers put on 3-day remand

A Dhaka court has granted three-day remand for each of five members of an international human organ trafficking syndicate, rejecting bail petition.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Hasibul Haq passed the order on Saturday afternoon after they were produced by DB Inspector Alamgir Hossain Patwari, seeking 10-day remand plea for each of them.

Detectives arrested five members of an international human organ trafficking syndicate during drives in different parts of Dhaka.

The arrestees are Abdul Jalil, Sheikh Jakir Ibn Aziz alias Shakir, Ashiqur Rahman alias Jebin, Fazle Rabbi and Jihan Rahman.

DMP Deputy Commissioner (media) Muntasirul Islam the five were arrested from Dhaka University and Gabtoli areas on Friday night.

He said the DB members also rescued two victims from the possession of the arrestees.

Police said kidney selling and purchasing gang broker Abdul Jalil was arrested from Gabtoli when he was on way to Dhaka with one Abu Hasan from Joypurhat in a bid to sell his kidney.

Victim Abu Hasan alleged that broker Jalil lured him of giving a CNG auto-rickshaw in exchange of his one kidney.

Later on the basis of Jalil's information, DB police rescued another victim Shanto and arrested five others from Dhaka University area.
