Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) authorities have formed a three-member monitoring cell to oversee and help the ongoing investigation into the killing incident of Md Rakibul Islam.
KMP Additional Commissioner (special branch) and its spokesman Maniruzzaman confirmed about the formation of monitoring cell.
When asked, Maniruzzaman said the decision, in this regard, was taken on Wednesday morning to expedite submission of the report of the case filed in the heinous incident. KMP Additional Commissioner Mahbub Hakim would lead the cell.
“The body will not submit any report over the issue. Its sole duty is to help the investigation team of the case so that they can finish the probe and submit the report as early as possible,” the spokesperson went on.

Md Rakibul Islam, 12, was viciously killed by three adults in the city’s Tutpara area on Monday night. During the killing, the murderers pumped air through the child’s rectum because he had left employment at their garage and taken up a job elsewhere. The garage is belonged to one Mohammad Sharif, 28.
Following his death, outraged locals Tuesday broke into the garage and started beating Mintu, Sharif and Beauty. Later, police arrested the three and sent Mintu and Sharif to the prison cell of Khuna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) for treatment.
On the day, Rakib’s father Nurul Alam launched a murder case with Sadar police station against the trio and its Sub-Inspector Kazi Mostaque Ahmed was assigned to investigate into the incident.
