A Dhaka court has issued arrest warrant against 16 BNP leaders, including party's Standing Committee Member Barrister Rafiqul Islam Miah in an arson case filed with Pallabi police station.
Dhaka Metropolitan Special Tribunal-1 Judge Md Kamrul Hossain Monday passed the order, taking into cognisance the charge sheet in the case.
The warrant also includes the names of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's Special Assistant Shamshur Rahman Shimul Biswas, Press Secretary Maruf Kamal Khan Sohel, former MP Syeda Asifa Ashrafi Papiya.
The case was filed under Special Act for over the incident of torching a bus in capital's Pallabi area on January 26 during BNP's countrywide blockade and hartal.
Later, the driver of the bus filed the case with Pallabi police station.
