Fugitive war crimes accused Razzak arrested

Police have arrested the fugitive war crimes accused Abdur Razzak from Atangeri hill in Moulovibazar district for his alleged crimes against humanity during the 1971 Liberation War.

Baniachang police OC Nirmolendu Chakrabarti said: “Acting on a tip-off, a team of police conducted a drive in the Atangeri hill and arrested Razzak early Tuesday. He was planning to flee from the spot to another place. ”

Razzak was produced in a press conference at Baniachang police station in the afternoon.

His cousins alleged razakar Boro Mia and Angur Mia are now in jail in the same case.

International Crimes Tribunal 2 issued an arrest warrant against Abdur Razzak on Sunday, in response to a petition filed by the prosecution. 

Four charges were pressed against Razzak for his alleged crimes against humanity during the war in Habiganj. The charges include murder, rape, arson and torture.

Investigation Officer Nur Hossain completed the probe in the case on April 28. Depositions of 21 witnesses were attached to the probe report.
