Dengue: Six more die, 2,089 hospitalized in 24 hours

Bangladesh has recorded 262 dengue deaths and 86,458 cases since the outbreak began this year

Health officials on Sunday said they recorded 2,089 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts killing at least six persons in the last 24 hours.

"Out of 2,089, 203 patients were hospitalized in Barisal division, 324 in Chittagong division, 514 in Dhaka division, 196 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 106 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, 330 in Khulna division, 99 in Mymensingh division, 224 in Rajshahi division, 83 in Rangpur division and 10 Sylhet division, a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statement said.

Since the start of the dengue onslaughts, Bangladesh this year witnessed so far 262 deaths while the disease inflicted 86,458.

The dengue last year claimed 413 lives and inflicted 1,02,861 people in the country.

Besides, the dengue claimed 575 lives and inflicted 1,01,214 people in 2024.
