A three-month nationwide digital awareness campaign has been launched to combat dengue, with State Minister for Health Dr MA Muhit urging citizens, particularly young people and social media content creators, to participate actively.
In a statement issued Monday, Muhit said dengue cannot be fully controlled through administrative measures or insecticide spraying alone, stressing the importance of individual and collective awareness.
He said social media can play a significant role in spreading timely information and reducing dengue risks, urging content creators and influencers to produce and share awareness materials, including videos, reels, stories, infographics and posts.
“Content creators can effectively communicate important messages on dengue prevention, including eliminating stagnant water and seeking medical attention promptly after symptoms appear,” the state minister said.
Many content creators have already joined the campaign facilitated by the Ministry of Health.
Over the next three months, social media platforms will be used to disseminate information on destroying Aedes mosquito breeding sites, recognizing dengue symptoms and providing initial care.
The state minister urged people to keep their homes and workplaces clean and help spread dengue prevention messages online as part of the national campaign.
