Five more children have died from measles and measles-like symptoms in the 24 hours leading up to 8:00am on Saturday, raising the overall death toll from the ongoing outbreak to 1,053.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has classified four of the latest casualties as suspected and one as a confirmed measles death.
With the latest figures, the total number of suspected measles deaths has reached 952, while the number of confirmed deaths rose to 101, as one new confirmed measles fatality was reported in the last 24 hours.
Among the four new suspected fatalities, the highest concentration was recorded in Dhaka and Sylhet divisions, with two deaths reported in each. At the district level, the highest number of deaths was recorded in Dhaka district.
A total of 941 suspected measles cases were recorded in the 24 hours till Saturday morning, taking the overall suspected case tally to 178,666.
During the same period, 79 new confirmed measles cases were reported, bringing the total number of confirmed infections to 20,474.
Since March 15, 2026, a total of 157,556 suspected measles patients have been hospitalized across the country, of whom 151,395 have recovered and been discharged from hospitals, according to the DGHS.
