Dengue: Two more die as 1,056 hospitalized in 24 hours

The death toll from the disease stood at 143 this year

Two people died of dengue, and 1,056 were hospitalized after being infected with dengue in the last 24 hours till 8:00am on Saturday, according to a regular report of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Of the new hospitalized dengue patients, 435 were in Dhaka Division, 48 in Mymensingh Division, 103 in Chittagong Division, 199 in Khulna Division, 144 in Barisal Division, 73 in Rajshahi, 47 in Rangpur Division and seven in Sylhet Division. 

According to the report, a total of 50,276 dengue patients have so far been hospitalized across the country this year. With the two deaths in the past 24 hours, the death toll from the disease stood at 143 this year. 

However, in the last 24 hours, 1,056 patients recovered and were discharged from hospitals. This year, so far, 46,699 dengue patients have recovered and returned home after receiving treatment in hospitals. 

A total of 102,861 people were infected with dengue, and 413 people died from the disease last year.
