Seven more children have died from measles-like symptoms in the 24 hours leading up to 8:00am on Thursday, raising the overall death toll from the ongoing outbreak to 1,009.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has classified all seven of the latest casualties as suspected.
With the latest figures, the total number of suspected measles deaths has reached 909, while the number of confirmed deaths remained unchanged at 100, as no new confirmed measles deaths were reported in the last 24 hours.
Among the seven new suspected fatalities, the highest concentration was recorded in Dhaka, with three deaths reported in the Dhaka division and two in Dhaka district.
A total of 1,165 suspected measles cases were recorded in the 24 hours till Thursday morning, taking the overall suspected case tally to 168,745.
During the same period, 29 new confirmed measles cases were reported, bringing the total number of confirmed infections to 19,933.
Since March 15, 2026, a total of 148,505 suspected measles patients have been hospitalized across the country, of whom 142,888 have recovered and been discharged from hospitals, according to the DGHS.
