Dengue: Four more die as 1,558 cases recorded in 24 hours

Since the dengue outbreak began, Bangladesh has recorded 117 deaths and 42,590 cases so far this year

Health officials on Sunday said they recorded 1,558 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts killing at least four persons in the past 24 hours.

"During the period, (of the 1,558) 137 patients were hospitalized in Barisal division, 169 in Chittagong division, 316 in Dhaka division, 148 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 193 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, 334 in Khulna division, 84 in Mymensingh division, 112 in Rajshahi 
division, 56 in Rangpur division and nine in Sylhet division," a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statement said.

Since the start of the dengue onslaughts Bangladesh this year witnessed so far 117 deaths while the disease inflicted 42,590.

Last year, it claimed 413 lives and inflicted 1,02,861 people in the country.

Besides, the mosquito-borne disease claimed 575 lives and inflicted 1,01,214 people in 2024.
