Dengue: Two more die as 996 cases recorded in 24 hours  

Dengue deaths in Bangladesh have risen to 90 this year, with cases reaching 33,586

Health officials on Saturday reported 996 new dengue cases and two deaths across the country in the past 24 hours.

According to a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 134 dengue patients were hospitalized in Barisal division, 103 in Chittagong division, 251 in Dhaka division, 73 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) areas and 67 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas during the period.

Besides, 263 patients were admitted to hospitals in Khulna division, 45 in Mymensingh division, 36 in Rajshahi division, 21 in Rangpur division and three in Sylhet division.

With the latest figures, the number of dengue-related deaths in Bangladesh has risen to 90 this year, while the total number of cases has reached 33,586.

Last year, dengue claimed 413 lives and infected 102,861 people in the country.

In 2024, the mosquito-borne disease claimed 575 lives and infected 101,214 people.
