Measles outbreak: Death toll hits 930 as two children die in 24 hours

Since March 15, a total of 148,406 suspected measles cases have been reported across the country, including 18,273 confirmed cases

Two more children died with suspected measles in the 24 hours till 8am Saturday, taking the total number of suspected measles deaths to 831, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

With 99 confirmed measles deaths, the combined death toll from suspected and confirmed measles cases has reached 930 since March 15.

The two suspected measles deaths were reported in Dhaka and Rajshahi, with one death in each district.

No confirmed measles death was recorded during the same period.

The DGHS said 815 suspected measles cases were reported between 8am Friday and 8am Saturday, while 65 cases were confirmed during the same period.

Since March 15, a total of 148,406 suspected measles cases have been reported across the country, including 18,273 confirmed cases.

Meanwhile, 129,583 suspected measles patients have been admitted to hospitals since March 15, while 125,151 patients have been discharged.

The figures were released by the Health Emergency Operations Centre and Control Room of the DGHS on Saturday.
