Dengue: One dies as 750 cases recorded in 24 hours

Death toll rises to 77 this year, with 27,022 cases reported so far, DGHS says

Health officials on Thursday said they recorded 750 fresh cases of dengue, onslaughts killing at least one person in the past 24 hours.

"During the period, (of the 750) 121 patients were hospitalized in Barisal division, 96 in Chittagong division, 122 in Dhaka division, 47 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 61 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, 173 in Khulna division, 56 in Mymensingh division, 57 in Rajshahi division and 14 in Rangpur division and three in Sylhet division, a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statement said.

Since the start of the dengue onslaught, Bangladesh this year witnessed so far 77 deaths, while the disease inflicted 27,022.

Dengue last year claimed 413 lives and inflicted 1,02,861 people in the country.

Besides, dengue claimed 575 lives and inflicted 1,01,214 people in 2024.
