Dengue claims two lives as 723 cases recorded in 24 hours

Bangladesh has recorded 63 dengue deaths and 21,550 cases since the beginning of the year

Health officials on Wednesday said 723 new dengue cases were recorded and 2 people died from the disease in the past 24 hours.

According to a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statement, 101 patients were hospitalized in Barisal division, 83 in Chittagong division, 107 in Dhaka division, 112 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 101 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas.

The statement said 98 patients were hospitalized in Khulna division, 45 in Mymensingh division, 63 in Rajshahi division, 12 in Rangpur division and 1 in Sylhet division.

Since the beginning of this year, Bangladesh has recorded 63 dengue deaths and 21,550 cases.

Last year, dengue claimed 413 lives and affected 102,861 people in the country.

In 2024, the disease claimed 575 lives and affected 101,214 people.
