Five more children have died from measles-like symptoms in the 24 hours leading up to 8:00am on Wednesday, raising the overall death toll from the ongoing outbreak to 854.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has classified all five of the latest casualties as suspected.
With the latest figures, the total number of suspected measles deaths has reached 758, while the number of confirmed deaths remained unchanged at 96, as no new confirmed measles deaths were reported in the last 24 hours.
Among the five new suspected fatalities, the highest concentration was recorded in Dhaka, with three deaths reported in both the Dhaka division and Dhaka district.
A total of 959 suspected measles cases were recorded in the 24 hours till Wednesday morning, taking the overall suspected case tally to 132,905.
During the same period, 124 new confirmed measles cases were reported, bringing the total number of confirmed infections to 16,655.
Since March 15, 2026, a total of 115,234 suspected measles patients have been hospitalized across the country, of whom 111,005 have recovered and been discharged from hospitals, according to the DGHS.
