Health officials on Sunday said they recorded 423 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts killing at least two persons in the past 24 hours.
“During the period, (of the 423) 54 patients were hospitalized in Barisal division, 49 in Chittagong division, 38 in Dhaka division, 69 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 47 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, 81 in Khulna division, 36 in Mymensingh division, 29 in Rajshahi division, 16 in Rangpur division and four in Sylhet division, a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statement said.
Since the start of the dengue onslaught in Bangladesh this year, 56 deaths have been reported, while the disease has inflicted 16,104.
Last year, dengue claimed 413 lives and inflicted 1,02,861 people in the country.
Besides, dengue claimed 575 lives and inflicted 1,01,214 people in 2024.
