Dengue: One more death, 546 new cases in 24 hours

The latest infections pushed this year's dengue cases to 13,644, while the death toll rose to 44

Health authorities on Monday reported 546 new dengue cases and 1 death recorded in the past 24 hours, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

A DGHS statement said that, of the 546 newly hospitalized patients, 96 were admitted in Barisal division, 97 in Chittagong division, 109 in Dhaka division, 56 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), 58 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), 65 in Khulna division, 24 in Mymensingh division, 32 in Rajshahi division, and 9 in Rangpur division.

With the latest figures, the country's dengue death toll this year has reached 44, while the total number of reported cases has risen to 13,644.

Last year, dengue claimed 413 lives and infected 102,861 people across the country.

In 2024, the mosquito-borne disease caused 575 deaths and infected 101,214 people.
