Measles outbreak: Death toll 753 as three die in 24 hours

The new suspected fatalities were reported from the Mymensingh, Sylhet and Chittagong divisions

Three more children have died from measles-like symptoms in 24 hours till 8am on Saturday, raising the overall death toll from the ongoing outbreak to 753 according to the latesfr bulletin from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

All three of the latest deaths were classified as suspected measles cases.

With the latest figures, the total number of suspected measles deaths has reached 660, while the number of confirmed deaths remained unchanged at 93, as no new confirmed measles deaths were reported in the last 24 hours.

Of the three new suspected fatalities, one each was recorded in the Mymensingh, Sylhet, and Chittagong divisions. At the district level, the deaths occurred in Dhaka, Sunamganj, and Noakhali, with one casualty reported in each.

A total of 702 suspected measles cases were recorded in the 24 hours till Saturday morning, taking the overall suspected case tally to 110,601.

During the same period, 84 new confirmed measles cases were reported, bringing the total number of confirmed infections to 13,410.

Since March 15, 2026, a total of 93,491 suspected measles patients have been hospitalized across the country, of whom 89,762 have recovered and been discharged from hospitals, according to the DGHS.
