Measles outbreak: Death toll reaches 670 as four children die in 24 hours

​The DGHS has classified the latest casualties as suspected

Four more children have died from measles-like symptoms in the 24 hours leading up to 8:00am on Friday, raising the overall death toll from the ongoing outbreak to 670.

​The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has classified all four of the latest casualties as suspected.

​With the latest figures, the total number of suspected measles deaths has reached 577, while the number of confirmed deaths remained unchanged at 93, as no new confirmed measles deaths were reported in the last 24 hours.

​Among the four new suspected fatalities, two were reported in the Sylhet division. At the district level, the deaths occurred in Sylhet, Moulvibazar, Dhaka, and Noakhali, with one casualty reported in each.

​A total of 1,078 suspected measles cases were recorded in the 24 hours till Friday morning, taking the overall suspected case tally to 90,982.

​During the same period, 96 new confirmed measles cases were reported, bringing the total number of confirmed infections to 10,869.

​Since March 15, 2026, a total of 75,156 suspected measles patients have been hospitalized, of whom 71,316 have recovered and been discharged from hospitals, according to the DGHS.
