Another child has died while undergoing treatment for measles symptoms at the isolation ward of Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, raising the total death toll there to 37.
Confirming the death, hospital focal person Dr Jhantu Sarkar said an 11-month-old boy from Mirzapur village in Mymensingh Sadar upazila had been admitted to the hospital’s measles isolation ward on May 13.
The child died on Sunday afternoon while undergoing treatment, he said.
According to the doctor, the child had been suffering from several complications in addition to measles symptoms.
Dr Sarkar also said 14 new children were admitted to the hospital in the last 24 hours.
Currently, 77 children are undergoing treatment at the isolation ward, he added.
