Measles outbreak: Seven more deaths in 24 hours, toll rises to 343

Of the latest fatalities, one child died from confirmed measles while six others died showing symptoms of the disease

The ongoing measles outbreak in the country has claimed seven more children’s lives in 24 hours till 8am Friday, pushing the total death toll to 343 since March 15, according to the Directorate General of Health Services’ (DGHS) bulletin.

Of the latest fatalities, one child died from confirmed measles while six others died showing symptoms of the disease.

During the same 24-hour period, 1,494 children were admitted to hospitals with measles and related symptoms. Authorities also reported 1,212 suspected cases and 282 confirmed cases in the last day.

Since March 15, a total of 46,710 suspected cases and 6,490 confirmed cases have been recorded. Meanwhile, 32,862 children have been hospitalized with symptoms, and 29,152 have recovered and been discharged.
