A child has died at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital with measles-like symptoms, while 30 new patients were admitted with similar symptoms over the past 24 hours.
At present, 82 children are receiving treatment at the facility.
The deceased, a 9-month-old boy named Rafsan, was the son of Hridoy Mia from Balia village in Phulpur upazila of Mymensingh.
He died at 12:20pm on Saturday in the hospital’s measles isolation ward. He had been admitted on April 28 with measles-like symptoms.
According to the death certificate, the child died due to complications including pneumonia and heart failure, along with measles-like symptoms.
Hospital authorities said that between 8:00am Saturday and 8:00am Sunday, 30 new children with measles-like symptoms were admitted to the measles isolation ward of Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.
Since March 17, a total of 1,046 children with measles-like symptoms have been admitted to the hospital. Of them, 941 have recovered and been discharged, while 23 have died.
Currently, 82 children remain under treatment. Over the past 24 hours, another 30 children recovered and were discharged. No patients were referred elsewhere during this period.
