Seven more children have died in the country from measles and measles-like symptoms in the past 24 hours, from 8:00 am Thursday to 8:00 am Friday.
Of the deceased, three children were died from measles infection, while the remaining four showed symptoms consistent with the disease.
Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) confirmed the matter on Friday.
According to DGHS data, since March 15, a total of 42 children have died from confirmed measles infection, while 198 deaths have been recorded from suspected measles cases during the same period.
During the same timeframe, 4,231 children have been confirmed infected with measles, while suspected cases have risen to 29,549.
The DGHS further reported that 19,705 patients with suspected measles have been admitted to hospitals, while 16,527 patients have recovered and been discharged after receiving treatment.
