Seven children have died due to measles and measles-like symptoms, while 1,371 suspected cases were reported in 24 hours till 8am on Monday, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Of the seven deaths, two were confirmed to have been caused by measles, while five were reported with measles-like symptoms, the DGHS said in its latest measles-related bulletin.
Both confirmed measles deaths were reported in Dhaka. Of the five deaths with measles-like symptoms, four occurred in Dhaka and one in Rajshahi.
During the 24-hour period, 82 cases were laboratory confirmed.
From March 15 to April 13 (8:00am), a total of 17,024 suspected measles cases have been recorded across the country, of which 2,721 have been laboratory confirmed.
Between March 15 and April 12 (8:00am), the total number of suspected measles-related deaths stood at 156, while 30 deaths were confirmed to have been caused by measles.
Hospital admissions in the last 24 hours were reported as follows: 64 in Barisal, 141 in Chittagong, 615 in Dhaka, 143 in Khulna, 29 in Mymensingh, 298 in Rajshahi, 26 in Rangpur, and 55 in Sylhet.
