Leave for doctors, healthcare workers cancelled nationwide amid measles outbreak

DGHS order aims to ensure uninterrupted treatment and vaccination as infections spread among children

Update : 03 Apr 2026, 07:14 PM

All leave for doctors, officials, and staff under the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has been cancelled until the ongoing measles outbreak among children across the country is brought under control.

A DGHS public relations officer confirmed the matter on Friday, adding that an official order was issued in this regard on Thursday.

According to the order, signed by DGHS Director (Administration) Prof Dr Jalal Uddin Mohammad Rumi, the decision was taken in response to the spread of measles-related pneumonia among children.

To ensure uninterrupted medical services and facilitate vaccination during the emergency, all forms of leave—including earned and casual leave—for doctors, officials, staff, and healthcare workers at the DGHS and its affiliated health institutions have been suspended.
