Health officials on Tuesday said they recorded 920 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts, killing at least four persons in the past 24 hours.
"We recorded deaths of four dengue patients in 24 hours ending at 8am today," a spokesman of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said adding his office simultaneously recorded 920 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts during the same period.
According to the DGHS statistics, two died in areas with the purview of Chittagong division, one in Dhaka South City Corporation (DNCC) and one in Dhaka North City Corporation.
"Out of the 920 fresh cases, 146 patients were hospitalized in Barisal division, 116 in Chittagong division, 147 in Dhaka division excluding the capital, 151 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 211 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, 72 in Khulna division, 65 in Mymensingh division, two in Rangpur division and 10 in Sylhet division, a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statement said.
Since the start of the dengue onslaughts in Bangladesh this year, 343 deaths, while the disease has inflicted 86,924.
The dengue last year claimed 575 lives and inflicted 1,01,214 people in the country.
