Health Minister Zahid Maleque on Thursday said the fourth dose of Covid-19 vaccine will be given to people above 60 years first.
He was speaking at an event organized on the occasion of World AIDS Day at Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital.
The minister said: “We have enough vaccine doses. We have spoken to the prime minister about administering the fourth dose. The [vaccine] technical committee also gave its nod.”
Mentioning that the number of Covid-19 cases is increasing again in several countries including China and Japan, he said Bangladesh also has to be on the alert.
“Although the infection rate in the country is relatively low and deaths from Covid-19 in the country is fewer than 30,000, we do not want even one more death,” added the minister.
