Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique has been admitted to the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) hospital after contracting Covid-19.
He was hospitalized late on Wednesday, a day after his wife was admitted there with the coronavirus, reports UNB.
"The top judge's wife was admitted to the same hospital on Tuesday," BSMMU Vice-Chancellor Sharfuddin Ahmed said, adding that "both are doing well". "A medical board has been constituted that will take a call on their treatment Thursday noon."
Citing sources at the Supreme Court, online media outlet Bangla Tribune reported that in absences of the chief justice, the Appellate Division bench is now being conducted by the Justice Md Nuruzzaman.
At least 13 others High Court Division judges, Attorney General AM Amin Uddin, Additional Attorney General SK Morshed have gone into isolation after contracting Covid-19, says the report.
