Rangpur division recorded 19 more Covid-19-related deaths in the last 24 hours. The deadly disease has so far killed 596 people in the division.
At least 391 new Covid-19 cases were also recorded in the eight districts under the division, taking the total number of cases to 48,742.
Among the infected people in the last 24 hours, 102 are from Rangpur; 38 from Panchagarh; 36 from Nilphamari, 21 from Lalmonirhat; 42 from Kurigram; 55 from Thakurgaon; 65 from Dinajpur and 34 from Gaibandha.
All the ICU beds of Rangpur Covid Hospital and Dinajpur Covid Hospital are occupied. The current infection rate has increased alarmingly to 25.54% in the districts of the division – according to the Director of the Health Department Motaharul Islam.
The infection rate is rapidly increasing in the districts near the border due to the complete disregard of the health safety guidelines, he added.
So far, As many as 2,31,198 samples have been tested in the division, among them 48,742 people were Covid positive and 38,526 of them recovered from the disease.
