A Dutch woman has become the first reported person to die after catching Covid-19 twice.
The 89 year old women suffered from a rare form of bone marrow cancer that weakened her immune system.
The Netherlands National Institute for Public Health confirmed the matter.
She was admitted to the hospital with a severe case of cough and fever after testing positive for Covid-19 earlier in 2020. However, she was discharged five days later due to improvements in her condition.

Her condition worsened in the following days, leading to her death two weeks later.
Researchers claimed that her cancer was not life-threatening, and therefore her natural immune system was sufficiently strong to fight against coronavirus.
They found the genetic makeup of the two viruses to be distinct after analyzing the samples from both cases.
Till now, 23 cases of Covid-19 reinfection has been confirmed, reports the Telegraph.
The first case of Covid-19 reinfection was reported in Hong Kong when a 33 year old man was found to be infected again four months after recovering from the virus for the first time.
