Another policeman dies from Covid-19

Azizur had been admitted to the 500-bed Mugda General Hospital in Dhaka with symptoms of coronavirus and breathed his last at 12.15pm on Saturday

Another policeman has died from Covid-19, taking the overall death toll from the pandemic among Bangladesh Police to 76.

Deceased Md Azizur Rahman Chowdhury was an additional superintendent (additional SP contractual) of the Special Branch of Bangladesh Police. He was involved in the writing of the book “Secret documents of Intelligence Branch on Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.” 

Azizur had been admitted to the 500-bed Mugda General Hospital in Dhaka with symptoms of coronavirus and breathed his last at 12.15pm on Saturday. 

He joined the police force on January 1, 1982 and Special Branch's Political wing on August 27, 2002. Azizur retired on April 30, 2019 but was recruited by the government again on a contractual basis due to his documentation skills. 

Azizur hailed from Kulaura upazila of Moulvibazar district. He is survived by a wife and two sons. 

The body was sent to his village home under the management of Bangladesh Police and buried in his family graveyard in the presence of senior police officers.
