The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Friday gave mismatched figures of Covid-19 fatalities recorded in the last 24 hours, which stirred criticism among many, including netizens.
Additional Director General (Administration) of DGHS, Prof Nasima Sultana, while revealing the latest Covid-19 figures in a daily online bulletin from Dhaka on Friday afternoon, said Bangladesh reported 45 new deaths in the last 24 hours between Thursday and Friday.

However, the division wise data which she disclosed in the same bulletin, said 21 died in Dhaka, 16 in Chittagong, two each in Rajshahi and Khulna, one each in Barisal and Sylhet division, and four in Mymensingh.
Asked, Nasima Sultana told Dhaka Tribune she would check if there was any mistake.
Later, she clarified that the death toll in Chittagong division was 14, not 16, which was a mistake.
