Abdus Shahid, lawmaker from Moulvibazar-4 constituency and a former chief whip, tested positive for Covid-19 on Tuesday.
The MP is now undergoing treatment at Sheikh Russel Gastro Liver Institute & Hospital in Dhaka, said Ahad Md Sayeed Haider, personal secretary of the lawmaker.
The MP was admitted to Gastroliver Hospital on Sunday afternoon with a fever and cold but no breathing problems, said Ahad.
The Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control And Research (IEDCR) collected samples from the lawmaker on Monday afternoon.
Abdus Shahid took part in different programs in Sreemangal and Kamolganj upazilas on June 7 and June 8.
He could not attend the session on Sunday due to illness. He has been elected MP from Moulvibazar six times.
