The number of Covid-19 infections among members of the Bangladesh Police has crossed the 5,000 mark.
According to sources at the headquarters, as many as 5,129 police personnel have caught the viral disease as of Monday. Among them, 1,658 belong to the Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
Fifteen infected police personnel have died of Covid-19 infections, so far.
Some 1,876 police personnel have recovered from the disease while another 5,162 have been quarantined.
Infection among law enforcers continues to rise as it’s nearly impossible to carry out police work without being exposed to the people, according to senior police officials.
