161 more police members recover from Covid-19

14 police members have so far died from coronavirus infection

161 more policemen have recovered from Covid-19 and left the hospital on Wednesday, taking the total number of recovery among police members to 1,287.

“Many of them [police personnel who recovered from the infection] have rejoined work in order to serve the people,” said Md Sohel Rana, assistant inspector general (media) at Police Headquarters.

He also said the recovery rate has been rapidly increasing as advanced and consistent treatment is being provided at the Central Police Hospital.

The hospital authorities gave masks to every policeman who recovered and bade them a hearty farewell with flowers, he added.

Till Tuesday, a total of 4,053 police members have been infected with Covid-19 while doing their duties during the coronavirus pandemic, including 152 new cases, according to the police headquarters.

Among them, 14 policemen have died from the deadly virus.

Sohel Rana also said various preventive measures have been taken to reduce the risk of coronavirus infection among police members as per the directive of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed.

At the same time, adequate medical equipment has been added to all the police hospitals, including the private hospitals, to ensure the best services and care for the infected police personnel, he added.
