3 more Fire Service staff in Dhaka test Covid-19 positive

Of the total 16 infected, one is in home quarantine and the others are in institutional quarantine

Three more staff of Fire Service and Civil Defence in Dhaka have tested positive for Covid-19, taking their total number to 16.

Two of them are drivers at the Fire Service headquarters, said Deputy Assistant Director (Media) Shahjahan Sikder on Wednesday.

The other works at the central control room. He was living in a barrack with other firefighters.

The results of their sample testing were received on Tuesday night, said Shahjahan.

Of the 16 infected, one is in home quarantine and the others are in institutional quarantine.

Of the total, eight were from Sadarghat station, four from the headquarters at Siddique bazaar, two from Postagola station, one each from the Fire Service directorate and the central control room.

Shahjahan said one officer is already at the recovery stage. His first Covid-19 test after being tested positive recently has come negative, and if the second test comes negative too, he will be released.

Results of seven more tests were also due on Wednesday night, said the Fire Service official.

Until Wednesday afternoon, health authorities in Bangladesh recorded total 17,822 Covid-19 cases and 269 deaths from the disease.
