Northern International Medical College Principal Dr M Anisur Rahman and Dhaka University Chief Pharmaceutical Officer Jotirmoy Pal died with symptoms of Covid-19 on Monday.
Dr Anisur, a noted forensic medicine specialist, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital and Jotirmoy at Kurmitola General Hospital.
Dr Sohel Mahmud, head of the forensic department of DMCH, said the NIMC principal died around 11am.
Samples from Dr Anisur have been taken for testing, according to his family members.
Chief Medical Officer of DU Dr Sarwar Jahan Muttafi said he was aware of Jotirmoy’s death.
The DU official had been hospitalized with breathing complications on Sunday.
Abdul Motaleb, principal administrative officer at Masterda Surja Sen Hall of DU and Jotirmoy’s colleague, claimed Square Hospital refused to admit Jotirmoy but taken samples from him on Sunday night.
Later, Jotirmoy was shifted to Kurmitola when his breathing complications intensified, Abdul added.
Jotirmoy had been suffering from a cough and runny nose for a week.
