Different units of Bangladesh Police have formed special teams (comprising of senior officers) to visit and look after Covid-19 infected policemen after an order was issued by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed.
Initially, these teams will inquire about the policemen’s treatment, and listen to various problems they are facing while they are in hospital or in isolation and take immediate steps to solve them, regardless of their ranks, a press release issued by the Police Headquarters said on Saturday.
They will ensure that proper treatment is given to the infected as prescribed by physicians.
Police personnel are fighting to save people in this war with Covid-19, while putting their lives at risk.
Till now, six policemen have lost their lives to Covid-19 and over 1,500 have been infected. Also 98 of them completely recovered from the virus.

On Friday, a special team of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) under the supervision of DMP commissioner visited the Central Police Hospital, Rajarbagh Police Hospital and other designated places set up for Covid-19 infected policemen, the release also said.
At the time, the Covid-19-infected policemen were excited to see the special team in front of them and told them about their various problems. The special team also took immediate steps to solve the problems.
All kinds of preparations were taken at the Central Police Hospital to ensure the treatment of police members, after the IGP’s instructions were issued.
The 250-bed Impulse Hospital is being prepared at the moment to treat Covid-19 infected policemen.
Also, hospitals in the six divisional cities are being rented to provide treatment and the IGP is personally speaking to police commanders in-charge to make sure necessary treatment is provided to all infected policemen.
