Female DMCH employee dies of coronavirus

The 36-year-old, who tested positive on Wednesday, died after suffering a brain stroke

A female staffer of the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) is among the four people died at the hospital’s Covid-19 unit between Wednesday and Thursday afternoon.

Thirty-six-year-old Sufia Begum, a Class-IV employee, died at 8.40am on Thursday, said DMCH Assistant Director Alauddin Al Azad.

She was rushed to the hospital by her family after suffering a brain stroke when the doctors at the emergency department pronounced her dead, he said before adding Begum’s samples came back as Covid-19 positive the previous day.

Seventy-year-old Hosne Ara, a resident of Dhaka’s Kamrangichar, died at the DMCH Covid-19 unit around 8.30am, some 30 minutes later she was admitted to the hospital.

Lakhshmipur resident Nazmul Karim died at 12.30am on Thursday. The 70-year-old physician was admitted on May 5.

On Wednesday, 65-year-old Setara Begum from Dhaka’s Mirpur died around 6pm. She was admitted to the DMCH Covid-19 unit earlier in the day.
