A team of Chinese experts will arrive in Dhaka soon to help Bangladesh fight Covid-19, which has already claimed the lives of 152 people in the country, according to sources in the government and the embassy of China in Dhaka.
A senior Chinese embassy official would not confirm the number of members in the expert team.
“Please wait for further notice,” he told Dhaka Tribune on Sunday.
“China is making preparations and the embassy is coordinating on a daily basis. The experts’ team is expected to come soon,” he added.
The Chinese ambassador in Bangladesh, Li Jiming, said in a Facebook post: “A Chinese medical team of experts, comprising doctors, nurses and technicians, is on the way to Bangladesh to help combat the virus.”
The members of the Chinese experts’ team have already been provided with visas for Bangladesh and they will arrive soon, a senior government official concerned told this correspondent.
The Chinese team will work with the health agencies of the country, he said.
