At least eight more people died with symptoms similar to those of coronavirus (Covid-19) in six districts on Tuesday, prompting health authorities to send their samples to the nearest Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) labs to be tested for coronavirus.
In Feni, a 68-year old muezzin of a mosque suffering from cough, cold and fever died in Daganbhuiyan upazila, said Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Robayet.
In Gopalganj, a 22-year old man suffering from respiratory problems died in Kotalipara upazila. The man had returned from Dhaka a few days ago, according to Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Sushanta Baidya.
In Satkhira, two people, a night guard and a college teacher, suffering from fever and respiratory problems died in Tala and Ashasuni upazila, said Satkhira Civil Surgeon Dr Hossain Safayet.
In Khulna, two persons, including a woman suffering from cough, cold, fever and respiratory problems died at Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH).
The 43-year old man from Rupsa upazila died on the way to the hospital, said Dr Ashikur Rahman, emergency medical officer of KMCH, while the 70-year old woman died while undergoing treatment at the isolation unit, said KMCH Flu Corner Spokesperson Dr Soilendranath Biswas.
In Patuakhali, a 60-year old man suffering from fever and respiratory problems died while undergoing treatment at the isolation ward of the 250-bed Patuakhali General Hospital, said Civil Surgeon Jahangir Alom.
In Bogra, a 28-year old man with breathing problems, died while undergoing treatment at the isolation unit of Mohammad Ali Hospital, confirmed Residential Medical Officer (RMO) Dr Shahfiq Amin.
